NH Jobs

The New Hampshire (“NH”) Office of Workforce Opportunity, which is a part of the New Hampshire Employment Security office (“NHES”), oversees a variety of different job programs to help residents who are out of work, suffering from underemployment, or who are working but want to find a better work situation to do so.  NH jobs can be difficult to come by right now due to the prolonged recession the United States has experienced and the delay in the economic recovery of the country through the various means the President and Congress has attempted to implement, including the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (sometimes erroneously cited as the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act).

While we wait for economic recovery to come there are several tools and resources you should consider using during your NH jobs search through the New Hampshire Office of Workforce Opportunity.  We’ll explain those in more detail below.

NH Jobs Training Opportunities

The Office of Workforce Opportunity provides its citizens with a variety of training courses and workshops to help individuals develop skills that will allow them to be more marketable in the general workplace.  These workshops will include sessions on how to present yourself well in an interview, how to develop additional computer skills for different clerical or office job functions and how to improve the look and readability of your resume as you search for employment.  The Workforce Opportunity department has a variety of offices located throughout the state, including at Berlin, Claremont, Concord, Conway, Keene, Laconia, Littleton, Manchester, Nashua, Portsmouth, Salem and Somersworth.

The Office of Workforce Opportunity also partners with non-governmental organizations to help you with additional training.  Also, for employers, you can partner with the Office of Workforce Opportunity to receive funds to train current employers in additional areas of your business.  This makes your employees more marketable and valuable to the customers of your business.

Job Search Opportunities and Job Fairs

After you feel like you are ready for interviews and that your resume looks as good as possible, utilize the Workforce Opportunity’s job search database and attend job fairs the Office arranges to find NH jobs that are of interest to you.  The Workforce Opportunity database contains job openings for both New Hampshire government positions and private industry opportunities.

Additional Opportunities Through the Workforce Opportunity Office

Beyond the opportunities described above, the Workforce Opportunity office assists individuals who are disabled, elderly or veterans with special job placement assistance for certain NH jobs.  Many government-related jobs are specifically earmarked for people in these three categories, but the individuals don’t know that the opportunities exist!  The Workforce Opportunity office also offers a wide variety of resources to help show you how to properly do a NH jobs search through the Internet and explain different education opportunities that you can consider taking advantage of to make yourself more marketable in this difficult workplace environment.

Also, for those who are unemployed and have not been successful in finding a new job, the New Hampshire Employment Security office can also provide information to you regarding New Hampshire unemployment compensation, how to qualify and how much you may be entitled to receive until you find new employment.  Hopefully, NH unemployment is a “last resort” consideration instead of a first choice.

Good luck on your job hunt!
